GoVacuum Review Series - Reliable Steamboy Steam Floor Mop T1

Reliable Steamboy Steam Floor Mop T1

The Reliable Steam Boy Steam Floor Mop T1 saves me so much time when I’m cleaning my floors. No more filling and emptying mop buckets! The Reliable Steam Boy Steam Floor Mop T1 cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects all with only the power of water. No nasty chemicals to breathe in or hurt the environment. Protect both your family and the environment.

After seeing reviews of this product online and because of the amazingly good feedback I’ve seen from our customers, I decided to try this out for myself.

I will say the assembly to this product is not as easy as I would like it to be. Also the instruction booklet leaves A LOT to be desired. After fumbling through the assembly process, I was able to get the machine together.

My kitchen floor was filthy and was the perfect place to test the power of the Reliable Steam Mop . I installed the micro-fiber pad to the bottom, squeezed the steam trigger, and watched with delight at how easy the floor was cleaned. I have a very large Black Lab in my house. Cleaning up after his mess with a mop and bucket was a chore that I dreaded doing every day for man years. Now, with the Reliable Steam Mop, I am able to clean up after him in just a few minutes and use my saved time to play with my dog instead of just cleaning up after him. Win-win situation for us both!

I have only 1 complaint after using this machine, the cord is very short. It is a hassle to keep plugging and unplugging the machine. But luckily, even after unplugging, the machine keeps its heat so I did not have to wait for the machine to reheat in between plug ins.

One suggestion I can make for when using the machine is this. If you are constantly squeezing the trigger, you will notice that the machine releases a significant amount of water. I instead prefer to only use the trigger sparingly and since the pad is already moist and hot, the machine works just as well. Controlling my use of the trigger allowed the floor to dry almost instantly and left me close to nothing to do.

Overall the Reliable Steam Floor Mop is a great time saver and easy to maintain. All you have to do is take the mop head off, and throw it in your washing machine.

Here at GoVacuum we are becoming more and more concerned about the environment. Machines and products that do less damage to the environment and generally create less waste are becoming of more interest to us. For this reason, we really enjoy the Reliable Steam Boy Steam Floor Mop T1. The machines operates without the use of toxic chemicals and produces close to no waste. Enjoy a clean house and your commitment to helping the environment.

GoVacuum Review Series - Hoover U6439-900 Self-Propelled WindTunnel Ultra Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Hoover U6439-900 Self-Propelled WindTunnel Ultra Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Our retail stores love the Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel (U6439-900), simply because it is one of our most popular vacuum repair customers. But never would you find us trying to sell you one of these machines if you came to us for a recommendation for a quality vacuum.

Brand new, the Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel seems excellent. With new belts, filters, etc, the vacuum does a great job.

After approximately one year, however, the vacuum will start going downhill. This is by far one of the most repaired vacuums out there. And this is mainly due to a poorly designed belt system. It has a combination of two belts; one driving the agitator brush and the other driving the self-propelled mechanism. What happens is as soon as one belt inevitably goes bad, the other is soon to follow and break.

You will be having to replace the belts at least once a year, if not more. One other problem is when customers pick up the machine by the handle (lets face it, this is the most convenient way to carry) it causes the self-propelled actuator arm to break. There’s too much tension on the arm, and it will rip the screw right out of the plastic actuator arm. You need to carry the machine with the carrying handle on the back of the vacuum to avoid this.

There’s not much you can do to avoid the belt changes, however, as it is a flawed design by Hoover.

On another note, the Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel is very heavy so if you will be carrying it up and down stairs, it should be a serious concern for you.

Like we said before, when the machine is working it actually cleans very well. But, those times of good cleaning from this machine will be few and far between.

If you are like many Hoover WindTunnel owners and have to repair this machine’s belt yourself, you are in luck because we have created a video demonstrating how to do a belt repair in our GoVacuum Video Series. Check out the video below:

Ultra Violet Vacuums Kill What You Can’t See

The world of science and technology is taking a hold in the vacuum industry with smarter vacuums being introduced all the time. The latest is the use of ultra violet to kill micro-organisms from bedding mattresses, carpets, curtains and furnishings.

Individuals suffering from allergens will welcome the introduction of this technology. Using UV-C, the vacuum extracts all the visible (and not so visible) material and whilst exposing the surface to concentrated rays. Exposure to UV-C kills up to 99.9% of all micro-organisms including dust mites.

Dust mites live predominantly in mattresses and carpets and when you consider that up to 70% of your home is carpeted, that is a lot of space for these mites to live and breed in.  In addition, our bed mattresses is where we spend as much as eight hours a night on and the thought of battling an army of those pests is quite daunting!
There are two new weapons in the fight against dust mites and other micro-organisms:

The Halo Ultraviolet Vacuum Cleaner and the
Earlex RayCop - Mattress Vacuum Cleaner With Micro-Organism Killing UV Light

Scared of Dirt? Attack it like a Monster!

The wintry mix that has been assaulting the East Coast has left an equally destructive path in our houses. Living room floors and tile floors in the kitchen have been met with a foul mix of rain, sleet, snow and dirt. Breaking out the mop and bucket for this kind of mess on a hard surfaced floor can be a frustrating experience, especially if it happens a couple of times a day. And with the mop and bucket, the floor never seems THAT clean. Moreover, vacuuming up dirt stains that are embedded deep into your carpet is usually a battle that leaves most vacuuming aficionados feeling incomplete.

Luckily, there is an answer. The Monster EZ1 Steam Mop is a machine designed to attack the dirt and grime that plague your house. Simply fill it with water, and let it heat for 3 minutes and the machine delivers 266 degree steam to your floors to clean up any mess. Without the use of harsh chemicals, the machine can kill bacteria and clean both carpeting and hard surface flooring.

In order to demonstrate the capabilities of the Monster EZ1 Steam Mop , we have created a video demonstration that is the second addition to the GoVacuum Video Series.

Check out the video below.

There is more information on the Monster EZ1 Steam Mop available at our online store GoVacuum.com

As always, we’d love to hear any comments or questions that you have. We respond to requests as well! So if you have any machine you’d like to see demonstrated, or a common repair explained, please let us know.

A Hair Cutter That Sucks!

Attention all aspiring barbers, neat freaks, hair aficionados and vacuum fanatics!

During a recent conversation about strange videos on Youtube, I was introduced to a product that I realized was a necessity for our site: The Flowbee. A brilliant tool that combines the forces of a hair clipper and a vacuum, the Flowbee allows you to cut your own hair without having to clean up the mess that is usually left behind. The product itself was developed in the late 1980’s by Rick Hunt, a San Diego carpenter who was frustrated by the inability of his industrial vacuum to serve as a personal grooming tool. As a vacuum lover, I was impressed by the simplicity of use of this product. The Flowbee site claims that the product is compatible with 90% of vacuums with a hose capability.

The Flowbee itself is simply a hair clipper with a hose that can attach to a vacuum cleaner (with hose capabilities) that cleans up all the hair being cut off your head. By attaching the Flowbee unit to your vacuum, you can give yourself a haircut in the comfort of your own home without having to sweep up afterwards.

Previously only sold on late night TV, or through As Seen on TV mail order and brick and mortar stores, the owners of the Flowbee are beginning to make a bigger internet sales push. A quick Google or Youtube search reveals that in its time, the Flowbee has attracted a significant cult following. People who buy the product seem to love it. A friend even recently confided to me that her father was actually a Flowbee addict…

Interested in checking out how fun (and clean) cutting your own hair can be? We are now offering the Flowbee for $79.95.

Thus far, this is my favorite video of how the Flowbee operates:

New Nascar Robotic Vacuum attacking GoVacuum.com!

Introducing the Nascar Robotic Vacuums. It has been a while since I have been so excited about a new product. We have carried robotic vacuums now for several years, including the original robots on the block, the Roomba Robotic Floor Cleaners.

With the success of Roomba (over 3 million units sold since 2002) there was bound to be new competition in the robotic vacuum industry. The Nascar Robtic Vacuum was some really cool features to it. The company that makes them, Vesture Inc., was nice enough to send us a sample unit after we called and expressed interest in their product. Like most new products, I get to be the guinea pig and test them out.

I took the robot home, and began to play with it. The vacuum is complete with real Nascar sounds. When you turn the robot on, the machine says “Gentleman, start your engines”. The machine comes with a remote control, I know the ultimate lazy persons gadget, you can sit on the couch and vacuum at the same time! When choosing the vacuum option, the robot makes a noise of engines starting.

There are 5 different automatic cleaning options, from a spiral pattern, to a back and forth pattern. You can also just use the remote control to point the robot in any direction you choose (I decided it would be fun to chase my dog around the house with the machine). I actually found myself finding dirt to throw on on my carpet, just so I could vacuum! This robot is more then just a toy, it is actually a very decent vacuum. There is a brush roll inside that helps loosen the dirt, and the vacuum inside the robot picks up everything (you’ll need to pick up all big pieces of trash manually)! It made it’s way underneath my bed, which hasn’t seen a vacuum in many months, then casually made it’s way back out.

I used the machine for over an hour, and then the robot says “we need to pit”, informing me that the batteries were running low, and needed recharging. All around I was very impressed by this machine, and highly recommend it. The only draw back I saw was that the robot does not make its way back to the charging station automatically. You have to carry the robot (very easy to carry, there’s even a handle on the robot) back to the charger.

The Nascar robotic vacuum comes in four different models, the #24 Jeff Gordon car, the #48 Jimmie Johnson car, and the #3 Dale Earnhardt car. You may also purchase the Black Nascar rainbow logo car . These will make great gifts for Nascar fans, or anyone for that matter.

The VDTA Convention; plus Dyson unveils new vacuum model (Dyson Stowaway)

This past week, a couple of us GoVacuum-ers were in Sin City for the VDTA (Vacuum Dealers Trade Association) Convention. We got to talk to a whole slew of manufacturers, see new products, and swap ideas with other vacuum dealers around the country.

VDTA Convention in Las Vegas, February 2007

Dyson unveiled their newest offering with much hype and good marketing buzz. In the end, it looks like it’s the discontinued DC04PL Canister re-worked to have an electric powerhead (so it will be effective on carpet) and a new name (the Dyson Stowaway). I’m sure it will appeal to those who have always wanted a Dyson, but don’t have a large home with lots of space to waste. It also looks shinier. The people who demonstrated it for me were very helpful and knowledgeable, and the new powerhead seemed very easy to maneuver — it mimicked the turns of my wrist, like the Miele powerheads. It’s not available for sale yet, obviously, but I’ll update here when it is.

Below is a photo of my favorite poster from the convention (yes, I’m obsessed) :

Law & Odor, VDTA Convention, Las Vegas, February 2007

You can see all our photos from the convention at Flickr, including some action shots of the Dyson Stowaway. I have some videos linked below. All in all, I have to say, vacuum salesmen/women are more interesting than people give them credit for. Of course, I’m probably biased.
