Anyhow, the $1,000,000 question on everyone’s mind is “are you serious”? Does the vacuum cleaner industry suck? Yes, to both!

Why is it so hard to believe there’s a vacuum cleaner plated in 24k gold and cost $1.00 under $1,000,000.00? A painting by an artist can cost $50M or $100M, and it just hangs on your wall. I just had an epiphany! I should be a politician! If I had a dollar for every time I heard, “you don’t know when to shut your mouth do you”? The 1st time I heard it was in the womb as my mom was trying to sleep. I remember in 1st grade my teacher telling me to sit down and shut my mouth as I explained how she was wrong about how the alphabet song goes. Then there was the more recent ex-girlfriend who must have had the same teacher, because all I heard was “learn to filter yourself and shut your mouth” (so much for honesty, even though that’s what she claimed she wanted)… Anyhows…

The reason I bring this up is the other day I posted about how the Miele s7210 Twist vacuum is part of our Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday Sale at ONLY $399! I didn’t stop though, at the bottom I said “Next thing you know he’s gonna want me to show up to the office and film a video for the darn thing…”.

This coupled with showing up at the office more then 1 day a week and filming videos for the new Miele s6 S6270 vacuums, has him thinking I should be filming videos for the vacuums we offer for sale and then blogging about them… :( ughh… work… ewwwwww!

He told me, “Justin, customers want to see the machines being used in videos and since you seem to always speak unfiltered and run your mouth, you should be doing this. Just give an overview of the machines and your honest unfiltered opinion”.

Okay, so apparently I run my mouth and speak without a filter (yeah, I would have never guessed that on my own without them pointing it out) and while this a reason I’m single and I can live the bachelors life to the fullest, it’s now the very same reason I have a larger workload at GoVacuum.com. I guess I can’t complain, because I’m being paid to write and film videos which is something I love to do, but then again, I’m “unfiltered and run my mouth”.. so, I will.

What about my hammocks? Who will keep them company? I wanted to start a 99% occupy movement of my hammocks during work hours, now that epic dream will never transpire =(

Here I am writing this blog and posting about how if I had just kept my mouth shut and filtered myself I would be able to lay in the sun all day during work hours (and not be single), but nope I run my mouth and things get all twisted. Speaking of Twisted, here is the video I shot for the Miele Twist s7210 upright vacuum that’s now on sale!

I guess you should expect to see more of these as apparently this whole having to actually work at work thing is finally catching up to me. Yet, I find irony in me now being paid to run my mouth and be unfiltered… I was obviously just in training for this job my whole life!

In this corner we have the Juggernaut known as Google with their little known, but far superior service called Plus and in this corner we have Goliath also known as Facebook… Let’s get ready (I can’t say the last part because of this sentence because of this shocking find)…

Google Plus vs Facebook

So here it is, the battle of the social networking sites. Google has attempted before to hop on the social networking bandwagon, anyone remember Orkut? Jaiku? Wave?Friend Connect? Buzz? Google you have failed, time and time again at social networking, so why is it NOW we are to join the Plus you’ve concocted?

Simplicity, no not the vacuum bags we sell, but as a Google Plus user I can say it’s a lot easier then the other flops before. In fact it’s my opinion that Google should be proud they have never given up on social networking and it seems that from their failed attempts before, they’ve learned what to do, but more importantly what not to do.

It’s almost like they just got done watching the movie The Social Network and want back to the whiteboard and wrote down what they feel is cool based off Justin Timberlakes (mostly fictional) character.

Don’t announce you’re creating Google Plus, let bloggers gossip about it… that’s cool. Don’t let people join, they must be invited… that’s cool. After someone finally gets an invite, don’t let them in right away… that’s cool. No, that ain’t cool and quite frankly I’m starting to channel Paris Hilton saying that’s hot, so before I carry around a Taco Bell dog let me point out how dumb it is Google. Not letting people in with an invite is like being the said socialite on a VIP list at a club and not letting her in the door (wait, maybe it’s a good idea after all).

Nonetheless, your dragging out this grand opening… its been months already. I’ve had the account and only have about 15 people in my circles and the last time someone else posted to their wall was a week ago.

Facebook can’t even touch Google Plus from a WOW factor, Google Plus is far superior, but you know what Google? Facebook has something you don’t… people!

So open the doors already! I’m on the Google train and armed with Google TV, Gmail, an Android tablet and soon I’ll be trading in the Blackberry for an Android phone. Pull it all together Google and I’ll be your Google poster boy, but as of now I’m a loner on a social network!?!?

I’m not worried though, for I have something special. You see my “friends” not all Google Plus invites are created the same. I was denied with my first 3 invites, but a fellow geek friend of mine gave me a 1st generation invite, the only golden ticket that gets you in without a wait. That got me 150 invites to give away. I’ve only used about 10, so I have an idea.

It’s me vs my boss (you know your job is awesome when you can call your boss out in online and get away with it, especially when he stands 6’5!). In the short time I’ve written this blog I have 100 Facebook likes as of now. The main company website that sells Miele bags and other parts is GoVacuum.com and they have exactly 100 likes as well.

When my boss Bill Anand shared with me a recent article he wrote about strategic partnerships, I was excited to read it. Afterwards I felt inspired about working with Bill, he then asked me if I knew the 6th element of success? I had no answer. He simply replied… “happy customers”.

It is such a high customer satisfaction rating that has enabled Bill to turn his little “retirement project” GoVacuum.com into one of the largest vacuum cleaner and commercial cleaning websites. This simple concept of making sure the customers are happy is often claimed, but very few actually have as high of a customer satisfaction rating as GoVacuum does. The reason Bill was mentioning this to me was to explain, while it is great our customer service chat and phone support is available from 9:00am – 8:00pm EST, we are actually closed at 5:00pm to our customers on the west coast. He then explained how some customers are early birds on the east coast.

So he had a great idea, not only to extend our support and sales hours to 10:00pm EST, but to open even earlier at 8:00am EST. I said that sounds great! Yet, Bill being Bill and always trying implement things to make customers even happier, exclaimed “that’s not good enough”! “If we are going to provide great customer service, we need to do it every day of the week”, he said.

I started to wonder to my self, is it not enough that I go home and have to vacuum, yet alone when I sleep I dream of vacuums… now I won’t even have time to be home, because I’ll be working so much.

“We should be open Sunday as well”… BAM! THAT WAS IT! I think saw a flash of white light and started hallucinating vacuums, my vision was getting blurry, all I could see was Sebo uprights, Miele canisters and Vapamore steam cleaners circling around, my hearing started to go bad as well, I could only hear the loud noise of a broken Dyson vacuum. I had trouble breathing, this was no longer the EN1822 HEPA certified IQAir filtered air we breath in the office… Then, just as I was about to faint, he said the sweetest words I had ever heard. “We should hire more staff to help our customers with these extended hours”

Breathe in Breathe out, my vision cleared, and the sound of a bad Dyson clutch faded. “I think this is a great idea Bill”!

This past November, during one of our highest seasons, the GoVacuum staff packed up its stuff, and the company’s entire inventory and moved warehouses. We simply reached our capacity at our warehouse in Sterling, Virginia and had to move into a bigger space to make sure we could continue to accommodate all of our customers’ orders. Thanks to the perseverance and hard work of our staff, we didn’t even have to disrupt our shipping services for even one day!

Over the past few months, we have been excited to move into this new state-of-the-art facility in Chantilly, Virginia. With 5,000 square feet, we can now handle customer orders more quickly and efficiently. I’m posting some pictures of the new warehouse for your enjoyment.

It’s that time of year again. Summer makes a welcome return into our lives. Here in Northern Virginia we are lucky to have a beautiful 85 degree, cloudless day. Over the weekend we enjoyed the sounds of the Harley Davidson’s roaring into DC for the Rolling Thunder’s annual Memorial Day parade.

Here at GoVacuum we have scrambled all weekend to put together a Summer sale for our customers. Recently, we decided to reorganize our warehouse in order to accommodate the growth in product selection and decided to do something with the number of returned items we had. Sometimes customers return machines because they were sent the wrong machine, or because they simply didn’t think the machine fit their cleaning needs. As a result, we are left with a significant number of machines that are brand new but have damaged or opened packaging. Instead of throwing away these machines, we decided to sell these online to customers.

A couple of years ago we published a Spring Cleaning list, outlining some cleaning tips for your Springtime needs. We are publishing the list again for your benefit. If you have any tips yourself, feel free to leave them in the comments section below.

Spring is here, and with it all the freshness of a new season and bright starts. What a great time to get rid of a whole winter’s worth of built-up dust and grime. Of course, you’d rather be outside enjoying the fresh air and bright green… But with a thorough cleaning, you can bring all the fragrant crispness of springtime indoors. Realistically, where do you spend most of your time anyway? Wouldn’t it be great to be able to enjoy spring inside and out?

There’s a lot to do, but with a solid checklist and some creative use of your vacuum, you can make the process easier and end up with a far cleaner home. You may even be able to diminish some of your family’s seasonal allergies by making your indoor living environment a cleaner and dust-free one.

Use our tips below to get the most out of your vacuum. Don’t forget to put on some music to make the process slightly more enjoyable, wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, and have all your supplies ready before you begin, so you don’t waste time mid-cleaning, running out to the store. Also, open the windows to let some spring air in and toxic cleaning fumes out. Consider investing in an air cleaner to really tackle impurities and keep the air in your home spring-fresh year-round.

* The Obvious: Vacuum your carpets, vacuum your floors — vacuum everything.
* If cleaning wood floors, vacuum and then dust mop.
* Steam clean floors and carpets with a vapor steam cleaner like the Ladybug to completely rid your home of mold, dust, mites and allergens without the use of harsh chemicals.
* Dust and vacuum all corners and crevices. Dust falls downward, so remember to go from top to bottom.
* Vacuum or wash your curtains.

* Vacuum your lampshades.
* Clean computer and electronic equipment. Using your handy attachments, clean the crevices and between keyboard keys; use a dusting brush attachment on speaker covers.
* Vacuum out your stove vents and counter tops. Don’t forget to clean your attachments after cleaning your vents, to avoid spreading the accumulated dirt to stainable surfaces.
* Vacuum your bathrooms before cleaning them — this will make it easier to remove dust and hair that sticks when wet.
* When cleaning your refrigerator out, after removing all the drawers and removable trays, vacuum the refrigerator coils using the crevice tool attachment. Don’t forget to wash the drawers and trays in soap and water before putting them back in.
* Spot clean your upholstery using a protective chemical cleaner or a portable deep cleaner like the Bissell SpotBot.
