ORECK AND HOOVER NOW—TOGETHER? Hooreck?

When it’s time to shop for a new vacuum, you may have a hard time choosing between Oreck and Hoover because both produce models of such fine quality. As of yesterday, the lines between Oreck and Hoover have blurred just a bit! While your favorite Oreck vacuum models won’t be disappearing off the market, the company is now owned by Royal Appliance Manufacturing Co., the same company that makes Hoover vacuum models.

This may not seem like much to the average vacuum shopper, but here at GoVacuum.com, we find this news pretty amazing. It’s like Batman suddenly deciding to adopt Superman, or Coke and Pepsi being all one company!

Oreck was up for sale at auction because the family that started the company filed for bankruptcy in May of this year. Although Oreck is a highly successful company that makes great products, the Orecks made the move in a bid to try and keep the manufacturing operations of the company here in the United States. Labor costs and other financial burdens on the corporation meant there was no choice but to file for Chapter 11. The family had hoped to buy back their company, but understanding just what a great brand Oreck is, Royal snatched it up.

The good news is that it appears the U.S.-based manufacturing of Oreck vacuums will continue, and the brand will continue to be produced independently. You can be sure that GoVacuum.com will keep on stocking Hoover parts, Oreck parts, Hoover vacuums and Oreck vacuums going forward! You can check out selection of Oreck and Hoover parts and vacuum cleaners over at our discount website.

Did you know Royal is the company that makes Dirt Devil too? Not only that, but the parent company to all these companies is the same company that makes Home Depot Ryobi power tools!

Daily Deals… No Thank YOU!

Okay, I get informed by big boss man yesterday, I would have to attend a product launch from a leading vacuum company last night. Grrrrrr… this would effect my hectic work schedule, but he informed me there would be an open bar and free food, two of my favorite things, so I was happy to go!

Just as I finished up my 11th piece of salmon and capping off my second bottle of red grape juice, I was informed by that said boss man, he wanted to “increase my duties” at the company…. :(

No… No… NOOOOOOOOO!!! I’ve worked hard to get to this point of slacker and he wants to ruin that with work? Before I could react, he asked me if I knew what a daily deal was. I tried to pretend my hearing aid battery was low, but he knew I had just replaced them, because we had a conversation about them a day before, as he suggested I should get rechargeable vacuum batteries to use in them (I said he was scary looking, never funny).

He wasn’t buying it, he told me I need to start a daily deal section of our website and everyday I would need to offer a new discounted vacuum deal. Needless to say, that third bottle of juice was finished off rather quickly. What could I do? I felt deceived, but no one else will hire me sit in a hammock and blog all day, so I’m left with no other choice, but to say… without further delay. Drum Roll Please…. Introducing GoVacuum Daily Deals!

Everyday yours truly will have one of the GoVacuum misfits rummage thru our warehouse and find a product we have too many of, then I’ll go ahead and write something witty about it and come up with a huge discount off the regular price (Woot rip off much?).

A lot of items we’ll take a loss on, but it’s better then paying rent stocking these items in our warehouse. Some items will be vacuum cleaners that are new in the box, some will be returned open box returns that are in like new condition with fully warranties, some might be robotic vacuums or whatever we might find in the warehouse!

The good news for you, our customers is you will have savings as high as 90% off the regular price! Just check our website everyday to see what’s being offered, but buy quickly and think later! Daily Deals will be limited in quantity and you have 30-60 days to return them and we even pay shipping both ways! Just buy the items and if you don’t like them return them, zero risk or cost to you! My theory is if enough people buy stuff to try it out then return it, our daily deals will make use loose so much money he will stop the daily deals and I can get back to slacking! :) The bad news for me, is now I currently have to work between Jerry Springer and Maurry… :(

Excludes Miele products. Think I can turn this in to a “weekly deal” instead? Have an idea about how I can get out of doing work? Email me: justin@govacuum.com

The Ari Gold Rule For Buying A Vacuum!

Thank you HBO for letting me live life vicariously through the television show Entourage for the last several years. Ari Gold you sir have inspired me. Your witty one liners always made for a good laugh. You inspired me so much after the first show, I came up with the Ari Gold rule for buying a vacuum.

Also known as the agent rule, but the Ari Gold rule sounds so much more awesome! It’s what’s known as a OJC, that’s short for Original Justin Creation. Yes, kinda like a Jersey Shore GTL type of abbreviation, because that’s just “The Situation” (although due to recent developments beyond my control (the new buffet down the street) my 6 pack of abs are more less a keg, so I guess my pseudonym is “The Complication”).

The Ari Gold rule of buying a vacuum is simple, Ari Gold always protected Vinny and his best interest. That’s his job. What did Vinny do for Ari? He paid him his managers fee, 10% of the total investment known as Vincent Chase, was paid to protect that investment. That’s it!

If you use the Ari Gold rule to buy a vacuum, you spend about 10% of the total cost of your flooring on a new vacuum cleaner. Let’s say you have hardwood, tile and carpet that totals $7,000.00 throughout your house. That means about $700.00 would be a reasonable amount to protect that investment.

Does that seem high? Not really when you think about it. For that cost you can buy a great Miele vacuum cleaner that should last about 20 years or more, about the same length of time your flooring should last. Furthermore a good vacuum will always have your floors looking their best for even 20 years from now.

Does buying a $100.00 Bissell vacuum really make sense just because it’s cheap to protect a $7,000.00 investment? Look at it this way, your home is your biggest investment, your flooring is one of the most expensive items in your home.

If you rent an apartment or only have about $1,000.00 in carpeting, then yes, a cheaper hoover vacuum about $100.00 might be a wise choice. Just remember most $100.00 vacuums won’t last 2 years, yet alone 20. Also note: most that claim HEPA filtration don’t truly filter what they claim. If you have bad allergies only buy an EN1822 certified vacuum if you have allergies.

In conclusion, Don’t forget the Ari Gold rule when buying a vacuum cleaner and remember… GoVacuum, your one stop source for all things vacuum related! Call us today at 888-468-2210 and a vacuum genius will guide you as to what vacuum cleaner is best suited for your cleaning “Situation”.

Wanna read more OJC’s? Check out our main website, I’ve got many on there. Have a question about what vacuum is best for you? Email me justin@govacuum.com. Also don’t forget to like this blog on Facebook below!

Whatever you do, don’t call me Floyd Mayweather! Call me Rocky!

Yes, I was down for the count. I felt like Victor Ortiz, I made a mistake by calling out my boss and felt bad, I tried to apologize, but he cheated by sending out the newsletter to get a bunch of Facebook fans just like Floyd Mayweather took cheap shots the other night in the ring.

The difference between me and Mr. Ortiz is this… I got back up when I heard the crowd chanting my name after being sucker punched. Okay, fine maybe there’s more differences like, he’s in shape, a professional athlete and does not sell Hoover vacuum belts… But I digress.

I heard the crowds roar as I was down 167 to 109… I felt the need to prove as and like the New Kid On The Block I could school him in social media… No more games!

I plotted like Dr. Evil in Austin Powers and BAM! WHAT? WHAT? 181 to 167 and rising! KING KONG AIN’T GOT NOTHING ON ME!

How did I do it you asked? I went to the prestigious World Headquarters of GoVacuum and gathered the all the misfits for a group photo for the new about us page that will be up soon. Before big boss man got outside for the photo, I told them all to post this blog to their Facebook walls and ask others to do the same and something great would happen!

I told them we will get free lunch for a week, but they didn’t know that I was “embellishing” the truth. Nonetheless, as the chump known as Floyd Mayweather proved, a win is a win and while fighting dirty isn’t my style… I sure will be looking forward to a week of free lunches, I mean that was the agreement, I would get free lunches for a week or apologize.

Well…I’ll do both. Boss man, I take my fillet mignon medium rare thank you very much. To the misfits whom I think are the greatest bunch of guys to work with in the world, I’m sorry about my… APRIL FOOLS!

What you haven’t liked my blog yet? Well what are you waiting for? What? You think you have a better idea for a blog? Email it to me, I’m all ears! justin@govacuum.com

GoVacuum Extends Its Business Hours!

When my boss Bill Anand shared with me a recent article he wrote about strategic partnerships, I was excited to read it. Afterwards I felt inspired about working with Bill, he then asked me if I knew the 6th element of success? I had no answer. He simply replied… “happy customers”.

It is such a high customer satisfaction rating that has enabled Bill to turn his little “retirement project” GoVacuum.com into one of the largest vacuum cleaner and commercial cleaning websites. This simple concept of making sure the customers are happy is often claimed, but very few actually have as high of a customer satisfaction rating as GoVacuum does. The reason for this is we go above and beyond what other companies do to please you, our customer. For example, we offer 60 day returns on our household products and shipping both ways is FREE!

The reason Bill was mentioning this to me was to explain, while it is great our customer service chat and phone support is available from 9:00am – 8:00pm EST, we are actually closed at 5:00pm to our customers on the west coast. He then explained how some customers are early birds on the east coast.

So he had a great idea, not only to extend our support and sales hours to 10:00pm EST, but to open even earlier at 8:00am EST. I said that sounds great! Yet, Bill being Bill and always trying implement things to make customers even happier, exclaimed “that’s not good enough”! “If we are going to provide great customer service, we need to do it every day of the week”, he said.

I started to wonder to my self, is it not enough that I go home and have to vacuum, yet alone when I sleep I dream of vacuums… now I won’t even have time to be home, because I’ll be working so much.

“We should be open Sunday as well”… BAM! THAT WAS IT! I think saw a flash of white light and started hallucinating vacuums, my vision was getting blurry, all I could see was Sebo uprights, Miele canisters and Vapamore steam cleaners circling around, my hearing started to go bad as well, I could only hear the loud noise of a broken Dyson vacuum. I had trouble breathing, this was no longer the EN1822 HEPA certified IQAir filtered air we breath in the office… Then, just as I was about to faint, he said the sweetest words I had ever heard. “We should hire more staff to help our customers with these extended hours”

Breathe in Breathe out, my vision cleared, and the sound of a bad Dyson clutch faded. “I think this is a great idea Bill”!

So here we are today, with a larger staff (it should be noted we only hire experienced vacuum industry professionals) and open 7 days a week!

Think about it… now, when you break that vacuum belt you can order it from an experienced representative at 9:39pm EST on Thursday night, then you can call us and we’ll explain how to install it, even if it’s on a Saturday night at 9:45pm EST! (We won’t question how thrilling your week was, that lead you to spending a Saturday night fixing and repairing your Hoover… honest!)

Now that we’re open Monday – Saturday from 8:00am-10:00pm EST and Sunday from 11:00am – 6:00pm EST, you can grab your new or recently repaired vacuum cleaner, put it in the hands of someone in your home and yell… GOVACUUM!

We are always looking for ways to make your experience better with GoVacuum. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or just want to say hi! Please feel free to email me justin@govacuum.com, I’m always willing to take your great idea to Bill and claim it as my own! :)

Vacuums: Not just for cleaning anymore

Think the sole use for your vacuum is cleaning floors? Think again.

A Green Bay, Wisconsin mother learned that lesson this Christmas when her children gave her a vacuum cleaner as a gift. Upon opening the box she was surprised to find over four pounds of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine valued at over $280,000. Police say that the drugs were probably put in the box by smugglers before it was shipped from Juarez, Mexico.

(Read the full story in the Green Bay Press Gazette here: http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011101150692)

There are two lessons to keep in mind from this story. First, vacuum cleaners make great gifts! They may not be at the top of everyone’s wish list, but they are necessary for keeping a clean home and are always useful. If you’re shopping for a gift for newlyweds, new parents, or someone who’s just moved residences, they are likely in need of a vacuum. These Wisconsin kids were clearly on to something when they chose this gift for their mom.

Second, and more importantly, this story reminds us that there are many uses for a vacuum aside from cleaning. So dust off that old Hoover and get ready to put it to a new use!

Lull a baby to sleep

In the womb, a baby becomes comfortable with a lot of different sounds. Infants often need white noise in order to recreate that sense of security when falling asleep. The sound of a vacuum cleaner creates the perfect womb-like environment.

Stop a bug infestation

Got a fruit fly problem in your kitchen? One of the quickest ways to stop the rapidly multiplying invaders is to suck them up with your vacuum cleaner. The hose attachment will help you get them in all those hard-to-reach places!

Retrieve lost jewelry

Have you lost jewelry or other small items behind the radiator or under the couch? Consider using your vacuum to suck it out from wherever it’s stuck! Don’t forget to replace your bag with a clean one first so you’re not digging through piles of dust for your earring…

Manipulate your cat

Yes, it’s sad when terrified cats run for their lives upon hearing the vacuum. But if you need to prevent your cat from going into a certain area – perhaps you just painted your living room walls and don’t want them to rub up on the wet paint – it will do the trick every time!

And finally, just for fun…

Rob a bank

Thieves in France known as the “Vacuum Burglars” have used a powerful vacuum cleaner to steal money from 15 supermarkets over the past 4 years. The gang has stolen over 500,000 Euros by drilling a hole in the pneumatic tube that siphons money to the safe, then sucking out the rolls of cash with a vacuum. Creative, but we don’t condone this use!

Hoover Introduces the Platinum Collection Series – Linx Cordless Bagless Stick Vacuum Review

The Hoover Linx Bagless Cordless Stick Vac has the cleaning power of a full size upright, but with the body of a lightweight stick vacuum. We were very impressed here at GoVacuum how powerful this motor really is. This machine is ideal for those in between cleanings or quick picks ups, or for someone who has a physical disability and can’t push around a full size vacuum, but has to vacuum the house themselves.

Hoover Stick Vac - GoVacuum

What really is impressive on the machine is the fact it has a separate motor for the power brush. This brush does an excellent job on carpeting, and will eat pet hair for breakfast! Most cordless stick vacuums leave a lot to be desired in terms of the suction power, and cleaning carpets, however the Hoover Linx Stick Vacuum and it’s motorized power head are ideal for all surfaces of flooring, including homes with pets, or thick carpets.

What’s even better is that Hoover has really backed up this machine by giving it a 6 Year Parts And Labor Warranty. Most other cordless vacuums come with a 1 year warranty.

Hoover Stick Vac - GoVacuum

The battery life was a little disappointing as we were only able to vacuum for 20 minutes before the battery died, however within 3 hours of the battery being placed on the charger, we were back up and cleaning on a full charge. Like most bagless vacuums, this machine will tend to expel more particles then a bagged model would, so if you have allergies or breathing issues this may be a concern for you. The motor filter is washable, and should be washed every 3 months for maximum efficiency.

Hoover sold to Dirt Devil

Yes, it’s true. Whirlpool sold its Hoover vacuum business to Hong Kong-based Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd. (makers of Royal, Dirt Devil, and Regina vacuums). That is BIG news in our little vacuum world. We can’t wait to see what happens either. Are you excited by this? Nervous? Ideas, opinions, comments? Leave a comment and let us know.
