About Justin Haver

We are the people behind GoVacuum.com. We plan to use this blog to share our passion for all things vacuum and cleaning-related. We hope to use this space as both a source of information and entertainment for those interested in cleaning, vacuum cleaners and air purifiers. In addition to our normal posts that feature cleaning advice, and the "dirt" on the vacuum industry, we are featuring two series' that aim to both inform the reader and encourage a dialogue between GoVacuum and its customers. First, the GoVacuum Video Series where users can find videos that provide useful advice about repairing your vacuum, performing regular maintenance, health and cleaning advice, vacuum and air purifier reviews and demonstrations of popular cleaning products. Feel free to ask us to make any video you would like to see. Second, the GoVacuum Review Series was created after we noticed that the majority of the users on our online site arrived because they were looking for vacuum reviews or comparisons while in the research phase of the buying cycle. For this reason, we have dedicated a section of the blog to creating our own honest reviews about the products we sell. We encourage everyone to leave their own reviews or ask us to review any product you are interested in hearing about.

How to Replace a belt on a Riccar vacuum & work less!

“I am so S M R T!”- Homer Simpson

Well my cartoon friend, not only am I – S M R T ER, but I also look better in tighty whites! Don’t worry I spare you from the actual image and let you ponder that mental image…

Here’s why I claim to be smarter- there’s an old saying that goes, “a man who works a hundred years his hardest each day will never be old or broke”. Well I’ve got my own saying, “a man who appears to work and perfects slacking, will never grow tired of working his job!” – Justin.

With that in mind, let me introduce you to a kid who is in the world of vacuums… a celebrity. As a self proclaimed vacuum celebrity, he is the Matt Damon to my Brad Pittness in the vacuum world (except Brad has a 6 pack and I have a keg as a belly). Anyhow, Kyle Krichbaum has appeared on Jay Leno, The History channel and many more shows and television stations, but now he’s crossed over onto something even BIGGER… The GoVacuum Youtube Channel!

So what does a full time slacker do? He gets Kyle “The Vacuum Kid” Krichbaum to do his Youtube video for him! That’s right, Kyle is now creating how to & vacuum repair videos for GoVacuum.com! Thus enabling me to do what I do best… sleep!

So here’s Kyles first vacuum repair video for a Riccar 8905 vacuum cleaner. Expect to see more videos by Kyle and I’m even trying to pawn this blogging thing over to him, so this whole “work” thing won’t bother me during weekdays!

SEE IMAGES BELOW DIRECTIONS

1. Gather your materials. All you’ll need is an ordinary Phillips Head Screwdriver and a replacement belt. The belt part number for the Riccar 8905 is ricc113, and you can get one at a great low price at GoVacuum.com.

2. Turn the vacuum over with the front against the floor. You should be able to see the brusher bar in this position.

3. Locate the two small screws that hold the bottom plate of the vacuum in place. Once you’ve found them, use your screwdriver to remove them by turning the tool to the left.

4. Remove the plate.

5. You can locate the belt on its track on the left-hand side of the vacuum. There is a black door that partially obstructs your view of the belt. Grasp the door and swing it upwards to reveal the entire part.

6. Reach into the back of the vacuum and remove the belt from the motor pulley.

7. Remove the silver divider that is on the left-hand side of the brush roll. Put this aside somewhere safe, as you will need to reinstall it later.

8. Grasp the brush roller and pull it out of the vacuum.

9. Although it’s not mandatory, you can use this time as an opportunity to clean the area beneath the brush roller. Just use a damp cloth to wipe down the entire area.

10. Place one end of the new belt around the motor pulley at the back of the vacuum.

11. Put the brush roll through the belt. You’ll want the belt to rest inside of the black track on the left-hand side of the brush roll.

12. Get behind the vacuum and grasp the brush roll. Put equal pressure on both ends and push it back into place. You will feel resistance from the belt, but don’t worry–this is normal. It does not mean the belt will break.

13. Return to the front of the vacuum and replace the metal divider.

14. Close the black door that covers the belt.

15. Put the pla
te back in place on the vacuum. Be sure to tuck the blue pieces inside. They should not be visible from the outside of the vacuum.

16. Use your screwdriver to tighten the screws, turning the tool to the right.

17. Celebrate! Your Riccar 8905 has a brand new belt. Give yourself a pat on the back and vacuum something!

NOTE: This video, images and guide is for the Riccar 8900 series without the clutch AKA floor/Rug Selector. If you have a Riccar model with the clutch such as the 8955 or 8850, you need to also connect the clutch bar and make sure your roller tabs are placed in the roller housing correctly.

DISCLAIMER: This video is for informational purposes only. We disclaim any injury you or your machine may endure during the repair process.

ORECK AND HOOVER NOW—TOGETHER? Hooreck?

When it’s time to shop for a new vacuum, you may have a hard time choosing between Oreck and Hoover because both produce models of such fine quality. As of yesterday, the lines between Oreck and Hoover have blurred just a bit! While your favorite Oreck vacuum models won’t be disappearing off the market, the company is now owned by Royal Appliance Manufacturing Co., the same company that makes Hoover vacuum models.

This may not seem like much to the average vacuum shopper, but here at GoVacuum.com, we find this news pretty amazing. It’s like Batman suddenly deciding to adopt Superman, or Coke and Pepsi being all one company!

Oreck was up for sale at auction because the family that started the company filed for bankruptcy in May of this year. Although Oreck is a highly successful company that makes great products, the Orecks made the move in a bid to try and keep the manufacturing operations of the company here in the United States. Labor costs and other financial burdens on the corporation meant there was no choice but to file for Chapter 11. The family had hoped to buy back their company, but understanding just what a great brand Oreck is, Royal snatched it up.

The good news is that it appears the U.S.-based manufacturing of Oreck vacuums will continue, and the brand will continue to be produced independently. You can be sure that GoVacuum.com will keep on stocking Hoover parts, Oreck parts, Hoover vacuums and Oreck vacuums going forward! You can check out selection of Oreck and Hoover parts and vacuum cleaners over at our discount website.

Did you know Royal is the company that makes Dirt Devil too? Not only that, but the parent company to all these companies is the same company that makes Home Depot Ryobi power tools!

Shark MV2010 Steamrolls the Dyson Hard!

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so the cleaning experts at Shark should be very flattered this week. Yesterday, Dyson debuted the new Dyson Hard, touting it as an innovative new cleaning solution for hard flooring surfaces. What Dyson doesn’t mention is that this design isn’t exactly new! The Shark MV2010 Vac-Then-Steam Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Steam Mop has been helping people save time and money for years by combining the benefits of a vacuum, mop and steam cleaner in one lightweight design.

So how does the Dyson Hard stack up to the Shark MV2010 Vac-Then-Steam Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Steam Mop? Let’s take an in-depth look.

- Suction on bare floors – Both the Dyson Hard and the Shark MV2010 Vac-Then-Steam Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Steam Mop pick up debris from hard flooring surfaces.

- Wet cleaning – The Dyson Hard uses wet wipes, which must be added to a floating wipe plate before you clean. With the Shark MV2010, you simply add water to the easy-to-fill tank. There’s no need to purchase special wipes; you can clean with ordinary water.

- Wiping ability – The Dyson Hard wet wipes work similarly to an ordinary mop and wipes away surface dirt as you clean. The Shark MV2010 Vac-Then-Steam Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Steam Mop is outfitted with a pair of microfiber cleaning cloths. The concentrated network of millions of fibers found on the cloth traps fine particulates and holds them in place.

- Sanitization – The Shark MV2010 Vac-Then-Steam Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Steam Mop is a steam cleaner with the ability to kill up to 99.9 percent of bacteria as you clean. The Dyson Hard does not use any type of steam.

It’s easy to see that the original multi-function vacuum solution, the Shark MV2010 Vac-Then-Steam Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Steam Mop, offers more benefits than the new Dyson Hard. You can check out a video of the Shark in action at GoVacuum.com.

The Dyson thief is no Shark

I’m not one to insult people, but stupid criminals seem to be getting stupider in 2013.

For 45-year-old Chuck Echevarria from Amherst, New York, the New Year didn’t get off to a very good start. Marking perhaps a new low for stupid criminals, Chuck waltzed into a big box store, took a cart and proceeded to fill it with over $1,700 worth of Dyson vacuums.

Then, he brazenly pushed his cart right outside without paying, walking right past several security cameras in the process. The footage posted on YouTube not only shows a clear view of his face, but also of the license plate on his vehicle.

It’s no surprise that this king of stupid criminals was quickly arrested. In fact, his antics had already landed him in jail in Pennsylvania on different charges.

So what did Chuck steal? A lot of different things, but most of his loot consisted of Dyson vacuums of all things. This has earned him the title of the Dyson thief in local media coverage around Amherst.

We personally think that walking out of a store with a cart full of merchandise and your face in plain view is pretty foolish, but Chuck’s choice of merchandise to target is even dumber to us. If the Dyson thief was going to steal a vacuum, we can’t understand why he’d pass up higher quality models like the Shark Navigator and go for a Dyson instead.

Obviously, Chuck didn’t plan his heist too well, and he didn’t bother to research what he was stealing either. Just one look at Shark vacuum reviews online would have told him that in the Dyson vs Shark debate, Shark vacuums always come out on top.

If you’re making the Dyson vs Shark decision for yourself, we hope you’ll look into the matter more carefully than the good old Dyson thief did. You can check out the Shark Navigator and other Shark vacuums at GoVacuum.com and see for yourself why choosing a Dyson vs a Shark makes stupid criminals even stupider.

Plus, when you’re ready to buy one of our new Shark vacuums, you’re sure to love the price. They’re practically a steal.

Recognized for excellence in vacuums by Amazon

We’ve Been Recognized!

We know it’s not nice to brag, but we recently got some exciting news that we
simply have to share with our blog readers.

Our Amazon Marketplace store was recently honored by Amazon for being one of the top sellers during the 2012 Holiday Season. This means we were not only tops on Amazon vacuum sales, but we also were among the top 25 percent of all sellers on Amazon in terms of sales volume. In addition, we also received an A+ rating on our customer feedback posted from those who bought our vacuums on Amazon during November and December 2012.

Amazon vacuum cleaner sales award
You may find it surprising that Amazon vacuum sales are high around Christmastime, as a new vacuum may not seem like a popular gift, but we’ve found
that sales of vacuums on Amazon and GoVacuum.com increase each year when people start Christmas shopping. This is not only because of gift-giving, but also
because many people decide to upgrade their vacuums to get their house squeaky clean before decorating. We also sell a lot of vacuum accessories and vacuum bags
on Amazon once Thanksgiving rolls around.

So what exactly made up our stellar sales of vacuums on Amazon? A lot of things, but our ZVac HEPA filters on Amazon sell particularly well. ZVac is our own brand
of generic HEPA filters, which are available for much less than many conventional brands. Our filters meet all OEM specifications and work with models from some of
the biggest manufacturers, including Hoover, Dirt Devil and Kenmore. We also have plans to start selling ZVac vacuum bags on Amazon and on GoVacuum.com in the
near future.

We’re very proud of our Amazon sales results and are hoping to have another strong year on our Marketplace store and our GoVaccuum.com e-commerce store. We couldn’t have done so well without the help of our customers, particularly the readers of our blog who tell their friends and family about our Amazon sales on vacuums and our
great customer service. So from all of us here at GoVacuum.com to you, thank you for your support and for your business!

Wine Festival & Vacuum Recycling Event Near Washington DC ( District of Columbia )?

Washington DC area residents, what do you get when you cross my two favorite things, wine and vacuums? Besides me and a lonely Saturday night as a bachelor, you get a fun filled Saturday! What are you doing on the 27th of October? No plans? Why not start the day off by visiting us for our vacuum festival? Okay, vacuum festival is a bit of a stretch, let’s call it a vacuum recycling event!

So hop in your car with your old vacuum, broken or working, and leave Washington DC to head down route 50! After selling us your vacuum and/or buying one from us at the BIGGEST SALE we’ve ever had in 35 years, why not drive a few miles down the street and have fun at a wine festival? We’re just minutes from many Virginia wineries. Why am I trying to suggest heading to a winery afterwards? Well besides the fact I’ll probably end up there after our vacuum recycling event, I fear you won’t show up just for the vacuum recycling event, so I’m trying to entice you with wine.

I don’t even know that there’s a wine festival this weekend, but I do know Chrysalis Winery is just a few miles away and it’s always beautiful countryside scenery that makes for a great break from Washington DC’s political landscape. Oh, plus there’s also the National Air & Space Museum just down the street if you’re heading over with family! The point I’m trying to make is this… If you live in or near Washington DC, please attend our event! I’ll even have the gold and priceless vacuums on display so you can get a photo with each for FREE!

So my Washington DC and surrounding area residents (that includes you too Maryland), please note there is no trick to Vacuums Unlimited’s (AKA GoVacuum.com) biggest sale in 35 years. There is also most certainly a treat for customers and the environment this year with a recycling event just in time for Halloween. Vacuums Unlimited (of GoVacuum) and Forever Green Recycling are pairing up for a big recycling event festival in Virginia this October (just outside Washington, D.C.). This one-day only sale and recycling event will be Saturday, October 27th, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Is this a wine festival with music for Washington, DC area residents? Hardly! There will be no wine at this festival and it’s hardly a festival, it’s a recycling event! Don’t worry District of Columbia area residents, there will be music playing (just no bands). What gives then?

Well, Vacuums Unlimited will be having their biggest sale on vacuums, air purifiers, carpet cleaners and more! Open boxed vacuums, customer returns, re-boxed, refurbished, rebuilt, and more, during this event only are being liquidated! No rain checks will be dispersed for items on sale as the sale includes only items in stock.

Who knew that recycling could pay off? And could even take that old clunker of a vacuum out of the closet to free up some space? For this recycling event, Vacuums Unlimited will be offering store credits for vacuums in any condition, that old clunker that has not worked in years can earn a customer a neat $20 store credit. The vacuum in the back closet that still sometimes works but makes a whining sound could be worth up to $50. This store credit can also be used towards the machines on sale!

Just bring the vacuum down to the parking lot of their vacuum showroom and warehouse in Chantilly, VA 20151; located at 14500 Lee Road, Unit G (just 20 minutes from D.C & 45 minutes from Baltimore). After the vacuums have been purchased by Vacuums Unlimited, they will try to rebuild your vacuum and give it a new home to clean up. In the event they can’t repair the vacuum, they will strip the vacuum for reusable parts. The parts that cannot be retrieved for reuse will be recycled next door with Forever Green Recycling.

Customers can also bring in other various electronics to be recycled with Forever Green Recycling; click here for a more complete list of items. There is no need to fret over whether or not the vacuums and electronics will end up cluttering the landfill because of Forever Green Recycling’s 99% no-landfill policy.

Vacuums Unlimited and Forever Green Recycling have certainly come together with a different take on the idea of less-is-more, with less landfill clutter and more benefits for the customer and the environment. If you cannot make it for the event but still want to recycle your vacuum, check out their new recycling program.

There will even be a FREE raffle for a Hoover vacuum cleaner! No purchase or vacuum to sell to Vacuums Unlimited required, just stop by and pick up a ticket and they’ll email you if you’re the winner! So if you’re in the Washington, DC area and looking for a unique and fun festival event on the weekend to hit up, check out the first ever Vacuums Unlimited vacuum recycling event that’s just a 20 minute drive from Washington DC & just minutes from many wine festivals at local wineries!

GoVacuum Changes The Industry & Makes The News, But What’s Next?

Way back in 1999, Vacuum Unlimited broke new ground in the industry by starting a little retirement project for the owner called GoVacuum.com. It was one of the first e-commerce websites for vacuum bags, belts, parts and new vacuum cleaners. Fast forward 13 years later and we are still breaking new ground in the vacuum industry and the owner is far from retirement!

Take AskGoVacuum.com for example, a revolutionary new website that’s been in development and BETA mode for the last 4 years, which we’ve officially launched. At AskGovacuum.com anyone can post their vacuum related questions and the vacuum experts at GoVacuum will answer within 24 hours, sometimes we’ll even film a video answering your questions. This is a 100% free service which requires no purchase. Just visit AskGoVacuum.com, search for your question in the previous inquiries created by other users; if you don’t find your question or an answer already posted, just create an account and post any question about vacuum cleaners or air purifiers.

We answer any and all questions posted. Ask anything! From what vacuum would be best for your cleaning situation, how to install a belt, or even how to replace a Kirby vacuum cleaner transmission. No question is too easy or hard for us to answer! If you would like us to film a video giving you step by step instructions showing you how to repair your vacuum cleaner, just ask! 100% free of charge; no strings attached.

Another way we’re paving the way in the vacuum industry is with our selling platforms. We’ve been selling on Amazon now for several years and we’ve been able to utilize their selling and fulfillment services so much that not only have they chosen to do a case study on us, but Sachin Anand, the Director of Business Development, was recently interviewed by The Financial Times newspaper about our relationship with Amazon. He even appeared on the NPR radio show On Point to speak about it (fast forward to 19:45 to hear about him).

Yes, we’re making news for how we’ve reshaped the vacuum industry with Amazon, but we’ve also recently broke new ground in other marketplaces such as NewEgg.com, Sears.com, Buy.com and many others.

We’re proud to be at the forefront of the vacuum industry and always being among the most innovative entities on the market. So, what’s next? Is there a reality show in the works? Will we make our own vacuums soon? Will we conquer the world? Who knows? Check this blog often at GoVacuum.us to find out!

The World’s Most Expensive Vacuum Is Trendy, But Are We Serious?

With the GoVacuum GV62711 hitting the web yesterday our phone lines have been ringing off the hook and our website has been getting a lot of traffic.

Other websites have the Govacuum GV62711 trending and buzzing such as TrendHunter.com, LuxuryLaunches.com, Cnet.com , BornRich.com, LaTimes.com, Tecca.com and many other’s, but I lost track. Anyhow, the $1,000,000 question on everyone’s mind is “are you serious”? Does the vacuum cleaner industry suck? Yes, to both!

Why is it so hard to believe there’s a vacuum cleaner plated in 24k gold and cost $1.00 under $1,000,000.00? A painting by an artist can cost $50M or $100M, and it just hangs on your wall. This vacuum is a work of art that will actually clean your home and do an amazing job at it. It’s the only vacuum, that I know of, that’s capable of being custom made and fully tailored to a Billionaires needs. Couple that with the custom features, such as, lazer engraving and a 10amp motor, and then maybe you’ll understand why it happens to be, the world’s most expensive vacuum cleaner!

Just to be clear. No, it’s not worth it’s weight in gold. No, we are not lowering the price: $999,999.00 is the cost.

The point is, when you can, you CAN! I “could” get a real job and not sit at home blogging, but I choose to blog while in my tighty whities… because I can!

So, with that mindset, to the Billionaire’s who simpily can… meet the capitalist vacuum blogger/slacker who simpiliy, can!

You’ve heard it before… Yes, we can! Yes, We can!

Well at GoVacuum.com with the world’s most expensive vacuum- Yes, we can and yes, we are!

Yes, we are the lowest priced online vacuum retailer. Yes, we sell all other products like vacuum belts, vacuum bags and vacuums cleaners at huge discounts for way less then any other websites!

We’re a small business that’s growing. Selling 100 of these would allow us to grow even more, boosting our economy and helping America! For was it not a great man whom once said, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country?! So remember when you vote this November, vote GoVacuum.com as your official discount vacuum website- Whoa!

I just had an epiphany! I should be a politician! Okay… I got to go, but yeah- about the GoVacuum GV62711 we are 100% serious it’s a real product and we are really selling it (so real as in fact, the application to the book of world record’s has been submitted!) for just under one Million dollars, so Billionaire’s of America, buy one and help this great country of ours!

A Million Dollar Idea!? The Story Of The $1,000,000 Gold Vacuum

I’m going to start by stating the obvious, I’m not a smart man. Spend 3-2 minutes talking to me and you’ll realize this (or just wead this blog), but every so often I get hit in the head and a decent idea pops out. So with that intro, let me tell you about the Million dollar idea I recently had…

It was the wee hours of the morning. I was having the time of my life at a Washington, D.C. night club dancing with four very beautiful ladies and then, sadly, the dream ended. I woke up and realized it was 1:11am in the morning and I had to use the bathroom. As I turned on the lights, my eyes strained. All I could see was golden color lights for the first few seconds; so I quickly shut them off and took care of business. At that moment, it struck me like a freight train! GOLDEN VACUUM!

I rushed to turn the lights on! This time my eyes were fine. I washed my hands, splashed some water on my face, and went to flush the toilet. As I looked down to confirm I didn’t leave a puddle for the roommates, I saw a sign! The water in the toilet bowl was golden too (okay, it could just be I had started taking new multivitamins, but at the time I took it as a sign)! EUREKA! I’m a genius, which I announced to the whole house (although they felt otherwise at that moment)!

I booted up my laptop and got to work on the world’s first and only… Golden Vacuum Cleaner!

I help play my part at the leading internet retailer of vacuums, vacuum parts, air purifiers, and commercial cleaning products GoVacuum.com. So much so, creating something like this, unlike anything before, would require a lot of work, research, and development. After all, creating something for the person that literally has everything is no easy feat.

Fast forward about six months later. I have negotiated one of the world’s top gold plating companies in Kensington, Maryland, to handle the 24k gold plating. I had a top artist write a very catchy theme song for the golden tanned vacuum and I even lined up for engraving to be done if desired by the purchaser. Yes, you heard correct- The Gold GoVacuum GV62711 has its very own theme song (it’s a Million dollar vacuum, what else do you expect?)!

Not only does it have a theme song, but it has it’s own rap song (once again… why not?)!

Understand, it takes a special kind of company to employ me. Fact of the matter is, the last time I walked in the GoVacuum office, was over six months ago (but it was an epic blog post . So that, coupled with this golden idea, made me assume it was fine to take a little break from work and still be able to just waltz back into the office last week, like nothing had ever happened and just start working again. Now that I’m back with all my “R&D” done, the time has come to unveil to the world one of the most mundane, utilitarian objects that I’ve transformed into one of the most exclusive items for sale on Earth.

I’m talking about the world’s most expensive vacuum cleaner, the 24k gold plated vacuum (yes, 24k gold plated) cleaner.

Does the gold serve any purpose here? Not even remotely, unless you count looking absolutely awesome as a purpose (I kind of do). This limited edition, one of a kind product is the ultimate in luxury. After all, the definition of luxury is, “purchasing something ridiculously extravagant just ‘cause”.

Gold Vacuum Govacuum GV62711 60893974724 $1,000,000 million dollar vac

Now, unlike other companies that would expect a gold plated vacuum to only sit there and look pretty, I know that having a stunning yet still functional vacuum is key. This beauty is a commercial grade upright vacuum with a HEPA type paper bag system, to protect those delicate sinuses of yours. A 14” wide cleaning nozzle, which can help thoroughly vacuum the carpet in no time. Also, just in case you decide to give it a whirl, it only weighs a little over 15 pounds. This means you won’t be so tired after doing a quick cleaning between your maids schedules.

As most Billionaires will only buy something that’s custom and exclusive, we’ve made this a limited production vacuum cleaner. GoVacuum will limit production to only 100. Period. Nothing like this will ever be made again (because really, thousands of gold plated vacuum would be… excessive). Custom made, you can also have your gold plated vacuum cleaner engraved at no extra cost, and with optional attachments you can easily clean your 30-foot ceilings with ease.

Brand GoVacuum – Model Number GV62711 – UPC 60893974724
